Summer is officially here and this year, why not consider going on a vacation or trip to one of America’s 400+ National Parks? With so many parks, there’s bound to be one (or a lot more than one!) that piques your interest! Whether you want to go kayaking, enjoy star-gazing, hiking, fishing, or you want to learn about history, art or culture, there’s a park for you.
In fact, 2016 was the US National Park Service’s 100th birthday. To celebrate their historic centennial and to usher in the next century of stewardship, they launched the “Find Your Park” movement, encouraging people to get out there and share their own stories, pictures, and experiences at any of the (many) parks that the National Park Service protects. The great thing is, they designed websites to help you do just that! Go to findyourpark.com to search for parks based on activity or interest and location. Whether you’re looking for beaches, trails, historical landmarks, or family friendly activities, this site is a great place to go to find out all about our national parks.
As Theodore Roosevelt so eloquently put it, “There can be nothing in the world more beautiful than the Yosemite, the groves of the giant sequoias and redwoods, the Canyon of the Colorado, the Canyon of the Yellowstone, the Three Tetons; and our people should see to it that they are preserved for their children and their children’s children forever, with their majestic beauty all unmarred.” These are special places that have been protected so that we can see and experience them—so what are you waiting for? What park do you want to visit next? Leave a comment and let us know!
And for a little extra inspiration, we’ve got two great national park videos that we think you’ll enjoy!
